Ministries:
Serving the Parish
As we grow toward becoming a full parish, our ministries grow with intention.
The life of the Church is sustained not by programs, but by people — offering their time, skill, prayer, and strength so that worship and mission may flourish.
Each member contributes in different ways. Together, we move as one body.
Ways to Serve Jesus Christ
Liturgical
The worship of the Church is our center. These ministries directly support the beauty, order, and reverence of our services.
Hospitality
Hospitality is often called “the Liturgy after the Liturgy.” It is how we welcome, feed, and care for one another — especially during major feasts and shared parish gatherings.
Communications
Clear and consistent communication supports our worship, outreach, and growth.
As we develop our parish branding, website, and livestream presence, our Communications Team helps steward these efforts thoughtfully.
Facilities
We are a growing mission. That means we do not have a facilities department — we have each other.
Facilities ministry cares for the beauty, functionality, and dignity of our worship space so that it may be worthy of the Divine Liturgy.
Outreach
The Church does not exist for herself alone.
Through acts of mercy, public witness, and thoughtful engagement with our community, we seek to reflect Christ’s love beyond our walls.
Choir
The choir leads the sung prayer of the Church and supports the reverent offering of the Divine Services. Orthodox worship is largely sung rather than spoken, and the choir helps the entire parish pray with unity and clarity.
We welcome trained musicians as well as those willing to learn. Regular rehearsals strengthen musical skill and deepen understanding of the liturgical life of the Church.
Our goal is not performance, but prayer.
Fellowship
Parish life extends beyond Sunday morning.
Shared meals, informal gatherings, and seasonal celebrations help knit us together as a spiritual family. As we grow toward becoming a full parish, additional fellowship groups and gatherings will continue to develop organically.
Liturgical
Altar Servers
Men and boys serve in the altar, assisting the clergy and contributing to the dignity and reverence of the Divine Services. Servers are trained in altar etiquette and liturgical service, helping ensure worship is offered smoothly and attentively.
Readers
Readers proclaim the Psalms, Epistles, and other portions of the services. Through steady formation, readers learn to navigate the rhythm and structure of Orthodox worship with clarity and reverence.
Prosphora Bakers
Faithful parishioners bake the prosphora — the bread offered in the Divine Liturgy that becomes the Body of Christ. This quiet and hidden ministry is one of deep reverence, offering prayerful labor in service to the Eucharist.
Myrrhbearers Burial Ministry
When a member of the parish falls asleep in the Lord, the Church surrounds the family with prayer and care. Where possible, this ministry assists with traditional Orthodox funeral practices and memorial prayers, preserving the fullness of our burial tradition while supporting families in grief.
If a loved one has reposed, please contact the priest as soon as possible.
Hospitality
Fellowship Meal (Coffee Hour) Teams
Provide and host the Sunday fellowship meal on a rotating basis. While often called “coffee hour,” this gathering is always more than coffee — and always more than an hour. It is a shared meal and an important extension of our worship together.
Each member of a team is asked to help provide one Sunday meal per month, allowing responsibility to be shared sustainably.
Greeter Ministry
Welcome members and guests at the door and help newcomers find their footing.
Showers & Celebrations
Assist with baby showers, bridal showers, and parish celebrations.
Meal Trains
Coordinate meals for new parents and parishioners in times of illness or need.
Flowers & Decoration
Care for feast day flowers and liturgical decoration, especially for major celebrations.
During Holy Week, Pascha, Nativity, our Patronal Feast, and other major gatherings, these ministries often work together in an all-hands-on-deck spirit.
Communications
Website
Maintain and update parish web content and photos.
Social Media & Email Bulletin
Support regular communication through social platforms and weekly parish updates.
Livestream & Media
Assist with livestreaming Divine Liturgy and making sermons accessible to those exploring Orthodoxy or unable to attend in person.
Communications is not self-promotion. It is witness — helping others “come and see.”
Educational
Youth Ministry & Church School
Teach and assist in Sunday Church School and youth formation.
Bible Study & Inquirer Classes
Host or assist with Bible studies and catechetical gatherings in various parts of our community.
Formation happens not only in classrooms, but in faithful presence and shared life.
Facilities
Cleaning & Maintenance Team
Assist with regular upkeep of the church.
Parish Work Days
Participate in organized work days to repair, improve, and beautify our space.
Facilities work is not glamorous, but it is deeply ecclesial. Every repaired wall, cleaned classroom, and prepared space contributes to reverence in worship and hospitality to visitors.
Outreach
Community Outreach
Assist with public events, service projects, lectures, and gatherings such as “Theology on Tap.”
Ministries to the Poor and Sick
Help coordinate visitation, practical assistance, and prayer for those who are ill or in need.
Outreach is not marketing. It is love in action.
How to Get Involved
We do not expect everyone to do everything.
As you are able, consider one steady way to participate in the life of the parish. Consistency matters more than intensity.
If you are interested in serving in any of these areas or if you have a skill that may benefit the parish please speak with the priest or contact us.
